Heinrich Hertzinstitute find the exhibit "virtual mirror" in resound to 9 at the conditions B36 of the institute for Fraunhofer for communications technology, Heinrich Hertzinstitute (HHI).

A virtual mirror for a virtual Schuhanprobe is shown. It was developed for visualization individually after customer's requests of manufactured sport shoes. Contrary to a conventional mirror it does not show a material picture.

Instead a camera takes up feet and legs of the customer and shows these as video scene on the screen. Into this picture owing to a highly developed 3-D image processing technology the different shoe models are brought in, in order to synthesize the appearance of the new shoe models.

The movements of the feet are pursued and integrated in such a way computer graphics models into the video scene that the person seems to wear the virtual shoes.

The experience of many years within the range image processing made it for the Fraunhofer possible HHI to develop this technology to product-ripe.
