Before the trade disputes between China and EU reach the boiling point, two parties have decided to come to the negotiating table over the leather shoes issue.

Wei Jianguo, the Vice-Minister of Chinese Commerce Ministry says China expects EU to settle the issue with a just attitude.

Earlier, the Chinese Government said that the EU should understand its open approach.

Chinese Government also added that the country has been making sincere efforts in setting up a healthy market economy after it has opened its doors to the world.

The European Union declared that it would impose a temporary anti-dumping tax on Chinese leather footwear throughout the next half year.

The Union has also declined to give market economy treatment to 13 Chinese leather manufacturers, which it investigated last September.

Moreover, EU Trade Chief Peter Mandelson imposed a 4 percent duty that would come into effect from April and rise progressively to 19.4 percent for China.

The duty could be renewed for five years in October if necessary.

Duty would not apply to children's shoes and high-tech sports shoes.
