Price pressures pinch Vietnamese shoe makers

Vietnamese shoes manufactures are currently facing pressure on lowering prices by their overseas customers, at an average 10 percent less than the current price level, industry sources said.

Price pressure is concentrated on goods out of range bearing EC's anti-dumping duty.

As for goods covered under the anti-dumping duty, customers till stressed manufacturers to lower prices or cover the duty.

Importers have argued that if the goods are delivered in time, they will pay the necessary duty. However, Vietnamese footwear makers will be penalized for late delivery.
