HCM City Investment and Trade Promotion Centre has opened annual showroom to stimulate leather shows and apparel export markets.
Speaking on the event, Vu Kim Hanh, Director of the Centre, said that such event helps in increasing quality exports and contributes to the city's total export quota.
Started in 2004, the third event has witnessed more participants, visitors and more valuable contracts.
Hanh said last year 150 companies participated in the event, 34 more than 2004. Visitors were increased to 20 percent and total 24 contracts were signed of US $3.85 million, as compared to only 5 contracts of just $200,000 in 2004.
The leading industry earned around $3 billion from exports last year, putting Vietnam in the third position as footwear exporter, said Vu Cham, Chairman, Leather and Footwear Association.
