Local shoes should be under EC quota

European Commission should apply quotas on leather capped shoes manufactured by Vietnam and exported to European Union members since the commodity is to be levied anti-dumping duties by June, Lefaso proposed.

EC should assess its importing revenues considering 2004 as the base year for calculation and application of duty.

Moreover, EC should impose anti-dumping duty on those companies, which have annual exporting turnover to EU of 81 million pairs of shoes or with annual growth rate of more than 15 percent.

However, Lefaso requested to exempt three leather goods such as sports shoes, children shoes and sandal from the duty purview, as EU's members do not manufacture these goods.
