Long-standing dispute over anti-dumping duties on Vietnamese shoes has forced Truong Dinh Tuyen, Minister of Trade to meet Peter Mandelson, European Trade Commissioner to lower duties the European Trade Commission has imposed on leather shoes imported from Vietnam since March 23 this year.

Minister Tuyen will go to Belgium for talks immediately following WTO meet taking place in Geneva, Switzerland this week, according to the Vietnam Leather and Footwear Association (Lefaso).

Minister's discussion would end with positive note and that the anti-dumping duties on leather shoes produced in the country would be reduced, hoped Nguyen Gia Thao, President, Lefaso.
