Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, is the largest producer of women's shoes in China. The capital will host a business centre, West Shoe City, to be set up with the investment of about RMB50 million.
More than 80 percent shoe manufacturers of Sichuan province are in Chengdu. Every year, shoe manufacturing surpasses the level of 0.1 billion pairs, and sales are over 5 million a year.
But at present, the area does not boast any international brand despite the fact that shoes have been sold well in domestic & overseas market. Therefore, local government is encouraging manufacturers to produce international brand.
So far, many international shoe manufacturers have begun to locate in west shoes' industrial area.
