Footwear exports to Canada reach $6 million

Turnover of footwear exports to Canada in April 2006 soared 25 percent compared to correspondent month of 2005, for around $6 million, Ministry of Trade said.

For the first four months 2006, total revenue reached $25.8 million, up by 26 percent over the same period 2005.

After EC imposed anti-dumping tariff on Vietnam's leather capped–shoes, the domestic enterprises have been seeking for new markets, in which Canada is one of strategic customers, added the sources.

There is a great demand for Vietnamese leather capped–shoes and metal capped–shoes from Canada and recorded high growth during this period.
