Footwear exports likely to surge

Footwear export of India are likely to reach $2000 million before 2010, estimates Indian Footwear Components Manufacturers Association (IFCOMA).

Indian footwear component market would be around Rs6700 crore, while footwear market is 2,000 million pairs every year, Mani Almal, President of ifcoma, stated.

Also as the US and European markets considered India as major supplier, there was a surge in demand of footwear components from there.

Footwear industry is expecting investment worth Rs150 crore to deal with the rising demand, conveyed Vice-Chairman B D Bhaiya.
