CSM-Sipcot Sriperumbudur Footwear Park get 'ok' from Govt

State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (Sipcot) Ltd is to get ownership of the proposed 150-acre footwear park on Sriperumbudur, near Chennai.
Principle approval had been accorded to Consortium of Shoe Manufacturers (CSM) and Sipcot will function as an implementing agency for the proposed project.
However, project clearance from the state government is awaited.
For transparency in implementation of project, Central Government has asked CSM to transfer ownership to Sipcot.
Taiwan and the US leather footwear companies have evinced keen interest in setting up units at the proposed footwear park, sources said.
