Summer shoes have turned on the heat in Consumers Protection Commission as 15 complaints have been filed by customers for defective sandals in 10 days, stated a senior official of Commission.

Retailers who decline to repay the customer in case of faulty shoes can be fined with up to EUR7500, according to the new consumer protection law.

Another amendment in this law is the one-month deadline in which such complaints should be redressed.

The official claims that so far many shopkeepers abused the fact that there was no such time limit and took over eight months to mend a defective pair of shoes.

Piling complaints of low-quality fabrics have also led to mass probes into textile and clothing stores.

The Commission has launched an investigation of quality of summer shoes.
