European Trade Commission has submitted a proposal of mitigating the issue of slapping anti-dumping duties on leather shoes imported from China and Vietnam after several months of oppositions.
According to EC proposal, an average tariff of 7.5 percent on 140 million pairs and 95 million pairs of leather shoes imported from above countries respectively, each year will be imposed.
However, this tariff will be adjusted by time.
EC's proposal also reveals compensation tariff of up to 29.5 percent and 23 percent on the goods from these two countries if their annual exports volume exceeds the granted quota as above.
According to Horst Widmann, Chairman of Sports Goods Federation of EU, children shoes, which have been granted temporary exemption from anti-dumping lawsuit since April this year will be listed in this new quota mechanism.
EU's member countries are discussing this proposal and will be approved by Trade Ministry of these countries.
In a reaction to this proposal, China immediately protested and will raise the issue at WTO round for better solutions.
