Amoy city, where textile industry was already reeling under the provisions of strict labour laws set by International Labour Organisations (ILO), is in the mews once again for all the wrong reasons.
Within three days, custom officials have caught 10728 pairs of Nike and Puma gym shoes, 10184 pairs of Reebok and Adidas gym shoes and 13284 pairs of Levi's gym shoes as all these shoes turned out to be fake.
Being in the mid season of export, some merchants who often change their companies name, attempted to export these fake shoes to markets like Arabia and south-east Asia including includes Ukraine now.
These illegal trade activities have forced the custom officials to reinforce their inspection and steps are being taken for proper coordination between police stations, local industries and commerce department and all other concerned sectors.
It must be remembered that the custom officials have already detained 111 batches of fake clothing and shoes this year.
