Vietnam has increased prices of knitting-capped sports shoes with an average price of $11 for each pair.
Exporting prices of knitting-capped sports shoes increased 10 percent and 30.2 percent in July and August, 2006, respectively compared to first six months of 2006, informed Ministry of Trade.
So far this year, prices increased 30.49 percent compared to same period last year.
Earlier Vietnam was exporting medium quality shoes pricing lower than $9 a pair, but to earn more revenue country has started exporting high-quality shoes with starting price at $9 a pair, according to Ministry of Trade.
Major importers of Vietnamese knitting-capped sport shoes are Italy, Germany, Taiwan, Austria, Greece and Argentina. Among them Italy imported 53.3 thousand pairs with price of $14 and more a pair.
Vietnamese shoe exports to the US slightly dropped, however, the US is major buyer and imported 4.29 million pairs worth $47.55 million.
