Agra is one of the biggest clusters of footwear manufacturers in the country and foreign investors have neglected it so far but it is scheduled to change with Korea-based Washin Co Ltd starting a shoe-sole manufacturing unit in Agra, the first direct investment in city.

Central Footwear Training Institute (CFTI) which is a premier organisation in training footwear technicians informed that Washin Co has business in China and Mexico along with its home Korea.

The trail run of the polyurethane (PU) soles is currently on and if all goes as per plan, the production will start by the end of this month. The company will have initial capacity of 10,000 PU soles ever day and it plans to make 30,000 soles per day in the future.

The factory will provide job to 150-200 workers most of whom are expected from CFTI as they are better trained.
