EU anti-dumping lawsuit on Chinese shoe imports is adversely affecting footwear manufacturers of Wenzhou city, one of the most important shoemaking industrial areas.

Several shoemakers are undergoing financial crises that have made it difficult for firms to survive.

However, the growing exports of Wenzhou prove the support it recieves from the EU.

Earlier, foreigners did not even know where Wenzhou was and now mention of Wenzhou is common in global conferences, where demands of Wenzhou shoes are special.

In the first half of 2006, the shoe exports from Wenzhou city increased 27 percent compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the press that covers the antidumping lawsuit also seems to be in favour of China and encourages development of the shoe industry.

Kangnai Group has invested RMB10 million to establish a world-class shoe research center in collaboration with British global shoe certification organization SATRA.
