Footwear exports to Australia rise 26%

In the first eight months of 2006, footwear exports to Australia earned US $23.3 million, representing a year-on-year climb of around 26.26 percent.

Australia has decided to cut down the import tariff on these products from 17.5 to 12.5 and 7.5 percent from January 2007.

Experts expect footwear exports to reach around $38-$40 million by the end of this year.

Footwear exports to the US and Canada also recorded significant growth and the total earnings soared upto $1.2 billion for Vietnam.
