Footwear factory fire - 17 injured

Seventeen persons were injured when a major fire broke out in the godown of a footwear factory in Jugania locality of Bajaria police circle in Kanpur.

The injured were admitted to the UHM Hospital in Kanpur, while the five of them critically injured with 90 percent burns were sent to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital.

The fire broke out at 1.15 pm at the footwear factory of Hafiz Rias after a kerosene stove burst.

It took more than three hours for six fire tenders to put out the flames as they had to negotiate through narrow streets.

Investigations are under way to find out the cause of the fire, said Senior Superintendent of Police PC Meena.
