Wenzhou shoe units to protest anti-dumping duty imposed by EU

EU has formally passed the proposal of imposing 16.5 percent of anti-dumping duty to Chinese shoes recently.

This proffer will have huge negative effect to the shoe units in Wenzhou city.

Since April 2006, due to temporary anti-dumping duty levied by EU, the shoe units in Wenzhou city have lost many orders.

Meanwhile, the purchasers from EU have also reduced unit price that has also resulted in dwindling of profits.

From July to Sep, the quantity of leather shoes exported to Britain and Germany from Wenzhou city has dropped by 20 percent.

The Shoe Industry Association and local shoe units of Wenzhou city are sorting out a new arrangement.

The General Secretary of The Shoe Industry Association in Wenzhou city expressed that they would avail legal remedy through Europeon Courthouse in the mean time.
