Angolan textile industry to generate 3000 jobs

In the ceremony, under the rehabilitation project of the textile and garment factories situated in Angola, the Japanese Embassy presented 14 sewing machines to the Ministry of Public Administration, Employment, and Social Security (MAPTSS). These machines will strengthen the capacity of vocational training centres in the country.

Three factories situated in the provinces of Benguela, Cuanza Norte, and Luanda are currently being renovated with the help of the Japanese company, Marubeni, and the Ministry of Industry. These factories are currently under final phase of restructuring and have already employed 500 Angolan workers. Once modernised and fully operational, these factories will employ 3,000 more people.

The vocational training centres will provide training to workers who can get jobs at one of the three factories. (HO)
