The Municipality of Paraná, the capital city of the Argentine province of Entre Ríos, has inaugurated new premises for its garment manufacturing unit, which will produce apparels for its employees.

The new garment unit set up with a cost of over US$ 100,000 will form a part of the Department of Supplies.

Since 2008, the garment unit was functioning from a private space.

Mirta Soñez, director of the garment unit, said five new sewing machines, a cutting machine and a machine to make buttonholes have been added, taking the total number of machines to 12 at the garment unit.

Since the workers will now have their own space in the Municipality building itself, it will create better working conditions, improve productivity and decrease costs, Soñez added.
