The scope for transfer of apparel orders from China to other countries is limited, although it is a general trend today, according to industry analysts.

They aver that the impact of the current trend of shift in textile and garment orders from China to other Asian countries like Bangladesh and Vietnam is more of psychological nature, and the actual impact is not so high.

They say lesser population in Bangladesh and Vietnam, compared to China, puts a limit on garment production capacities of these two countries.

According to experts, the textile and clothing exports from Bangladesh and Vietnam are currently in the range of US$ 10-20 billion per year, whereas China exports textiles and apparels worth about US$ 250 billion per annum.

They add that China’s share in global textile and garment exports is likely to slightly increase in near future.

At present, China’s exports account for about 35 percent of the total textiles and apparels imported by the US and the EU.
