Garments Shramik Sangram Parishad (GSSP), a body representing Bangladesh’s garment factory workers, has urged for reopening of Hall-Mark readymade garment (RMG) manufacturing units under the Government supervision.

The garment workers’ organization also demanded job security of 17,000 workers who are employed at Hall-Mark’s factories in Savar.

Addressing a press conference, representatives of GSSP also demanded payment of dues of the employees at the earliest.

The RMG units owned by Hall-Mark group were shut down on October 30 without any prior notice and GSSP has submitted memorandums for immediate reopening of the factories to the Ministries of Labour and Employment, Industries, Commerce, Finance, as well as to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA).
