A fire incident at an innerwear manufacturing unit in south China’s Guangdong Province has killed fourteen people, the state news agency Xinhua has reported.

The fire accident has occurred at a time when the global apparel sector is yet to come out of the shock it received when about 110 people were killed at Tazreen Fashions fire incident in Bangladesh, which occurred about 10 days ago.

A clothing factory in Chaonan, Shantou was up in flames at about 3.30 p.m. local time on Tuesday, which was put out in half-an-hour, according to a statement by the Guangdong provincial government.

A working team has been set up by the provincial government to investigate the cause of the fire and to improve safety measures to avert repetition of such accidents in future.
