Applauding Fiji’s apparel sector’s potential to exercise a hold on small niche markets in New Zealand and Australia, New Zealand High Commission trade commissioner Peter Lund said he was impressed with the progress made by Fiji’s apparel industry in export of corporate wear to New Zealand and Australia.

The official said Fiji’s apparel industry has actually progressed, and it has developed an edge in producing quality products, Fiji Times reported.

Citing the example of Kookai, which has registered good growth, Mr. Lund said other Fijian apparel companies also have a potential to post impressive growth in small niche markets, and he is quite confident about their future.

Countries like China, which mainly focus on big bulk markets, would not be much interested in competing with Fiji in these small niche markets, he opined.

Lastly, highlighting the importance of developing trade and economic ties between Fiji and New Zealand, Mr. Lund said they are ready to back the growth and development of apparel industries of both the countries.
