Remi Holdings to set up garment unit in Bangladesh

Geared up to set up a garment industry in Adamjee Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Bangladesh, Indo-Bangladeshi joint venture firm Remi Holdings Ltd. has entered into a deal with Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA).
 
Sarah Ali, Director of Remi Holdings and BEPZA (Investment Promotion) Member Sayed Nurul Islam inked the deal to this effect on behalf of their respective organizations. 
 
As per the deal, the firm intends to spend US$ 18.02 million for setting up the new facility with a capacity to produce about three million kg of different knitwear and apparel products, each year.
 
The new plant is estimated to generate some 5,305 job opportunities for Bangladeshi citizens, according to a press release.
 
BEPZA is the official arm of the Bangladesh Government created to promote, draw and facilitate foreign investment in the EPZs in the country.
