Calling the new incoming Government’s attention to export of cotton yarn from the country at truly insignificant prices, the value-added textile industry of Pakistan noted that the domestic textile industry itself needs it badly.

Urging Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the body said cotton yarn is one of the key inputs for textile industry, and the domestic industry highly needs the same.

The Government should allow exports of only value-added fine cotton yarn, it said.

With large scale value addition and support of around 25-30 allied industries, the value-added textile export sector, has turned out to be the highest employment generator and foreign exchange earner for the country.
