Omoluabi garment factory goes operational in Nigeria

The Omoluabi garment factory, built at a cost of N1.2 billion, has been inaugurated by Rauf Aregbesola, the Governor of the western Nigerian state of Osun.
 
Inaugurating the factory, Mr. Aregbesola said that at full capacity, the factory would produce 50,000 uniforms per day, PM news Nigeria reported.
 
He said that over 3,000 youth would be employed at the new garment unit, and it will surely boost the state’s economy.
 
He added that the state government would provide enabling environment and security for investors.
 
Mr. Ismaila Alagbada, the Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives and Empowerment, said the new garment factory was the biggest such unit in West Africa, and it would turnaround the state’s economy.
 
Mrs. Folake Oyemade, the managing director of Omoluabi garment factory, said that over 500 persons are presently being imparted training in garment making, and by the end of the year, more than 3,000 persons would be trained.
 
Set up under the public-private partnership mode, the Omoluabi garment factory will mass produce uniforms for the pupils studying in Osun state public schools, as part of the state government’s school uniform unification policy.
