South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov has official inaugurated garment factory BTK-4 in Tskhinval, along with Teimuraz Bolloev, president of St. Petersburg based BTK Group, and other government officials, cominf.org reported.

The garment factory was unoperational for more than 20 years, and its revival was carried out after the Russian BTK Group started restoring the building in 2012 on the invitation of the South Ossetian government.

President Tibilov said his government would do everything possible to develop the region’s economy and attract investors, in order to raise the standard of living of the people.

Mr. Bolloev said the garment factory would serve as an example for other companies for investing in South Ossetia.

Tskhinval is the capital of South Ossetia, a de facto independent state that controls its claimed territory, in part with the support of the Russia. However, most of the UN member states regard South Ossetia as a region within the Georgian sovereign territory.
