The Javoni Clothing Factory, in order to cope with the globally soaring prices of cotton, the firm has decided to take on cotton cultivation on its own.

The factory located at Khujand city in Tajikistan will employ world-class facilities and most modern agricultural techniques.

The firm which is a joint venture between the Javoni and US's Carrera Group intends to lease 2,224 acres of land in Bobojonghafurov for cultivation of the precious crop.

Further, the firm would also acquire three tractors from Belarus, Carmen variety of cotton seeds from Turkey and an irrigation system from Iran for the purpose.

The decision to assume self-reliance instead of importing cotton was taken the Carrera Group, due to soaring prices of commodity in the world markets and also for the reason that the present cotton cultivators in northern Tajikistan were not capable to produce cotton of the required quality.

The company plans to start cultivation in April this year.
