Chinese Vice-Premier Mr Zhang Dejiang said, “Apparel companies should speed up industrial restructuring and product innovation to be more sustainable and competitive”.

He made these remarks while on a visit to the 19th China International Clothing & Accessories Fair in Beijing.

Mr Zhang said, “Most Chinese products have low value-addition, lack innovation and are short of global brands”.

He was of the opinion that, garment makers must strive to establish independent brands, increase investment in research and design, ensure strict quality control and step up product marketing globally.
