Pakistan's cotton arrivals up 70.94% to 8.3 mn bales in 2023-24

Cotton influx typically begins in August each year. However, in this marketing year, it started in July due to early sowing and favourable weather conditions, positively impacting the crop. This contrasts starkly with the previous year when heavy rains and floods severely affected cotton production in the main cotton-producing states.

A provincial breakdown of the data showed that Sindh province recorded cotton arrivals of *.*** million bales from July **** to March ****, which was ***.** per cent higher than the *,***,*** bales recorded until March **, ****. Meanwhile, Punjab witnessed the arrival of *,***,*** lakh bales, compared to *,***,*** bales as of March **, ****. There was very little arrival in March, as the season was ending.
