The National Textile Corporation Limited (NTC), a Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, has launched its own apparel brand ‘Indian Republic’.

After formally launching the brand and unveiling its logo in Hyderabad, Minister of Textiles K Sambasiva Rao said NTC had entered the apparel sector to provide high-quality clothing in a reasonable price range to fashion conscious youth of the country.

NTC plans to set up more than 300 retail stores under the new brand over the next two years, starting with one store each in Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and New Delhi. By March 2014, the company plans to have over 120 retail stores across the country.

Initially, the Indian Republic brand will offer only menswear, but in near future the brand will have a complete range of apparel, including womenswear, Mr. Rao said.

NTC has entered into agreements with four garment manufacturing units for supply of apparel for its new brand.

NTC was incorporated in April 1968 for managing the affairs of sick textile undertakings, in the private sector, taken over by the Government.
