The famous Japanese swimwear maker Yamamoto Corporation has recently come up with a radiation-proof apparel range to battle the aftermaths of the Fukushima radioactive disaster.

According to the Osaka-based manufacturer, the just unveiled protective clothing line is capable of blocking the harmful beta rays, which can cause life threatening diseases like cancer.

Aimed at people working in and around the damaged nuclear power plant area, the range, comprised of swimsuits, innerwear and wetsuits, is made from a special kind of rubberised kneaded carbon.

The workwear line will be commercially released sometime in November, 2013.

Yamamoto Corporation specializes in a variety of innovative, high-performance rubber-based materials, widely used in professional sports, health and wellness, aerospace and apparel sectors.

In a previous attempt to mitigate the consequences of radioactive damages caused by the power plant, a research team from the country’s largest public research organization Institute of Industrial Science (IIS) had developed a special kind of decontamination fabric that could absorb nearly 99 percent of radioactive caesium dissolved in water and soil.

Back in 2011, after a major earthquake and tsunami, Fukushima nuclear power plant suffered triple hydrogen explosions.
