The production of nonwoven fabrics in Japan decreased by 0.6 percent year-on-year to 25,792 tons in August 2012, according to the monthly report released by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

The production of wet-laid nonwovens decreased by 20.3 percent y-o-y to 2,288 tons in August, while that of chemical bonded types dipped seven percent y-o-y to 1,459 tons and of needle punched types fell by 4.5 percent to 5,760 tons.
From January to August this year, Japan's nonwoven fabric production increased by 3.6 percent year-on-year to 213,619 tons.
