Pune and India based Alpha Foam Limited is installing a spunbond–meltblown-meltblown-spunbond  (SMMS) line, whose production is expected to begin by the middle of 2014.

Apurva Ranka, Director of Alpha Foam Limited, while speaking with this scribe at the IDEA13 Exposition in Miami revealed plans of the new SMMS line.

The 3.2 meters wide line with an annual capacity of 10,000 tons is expected to be commissioned by mid-2014.

The Spunmelt fabrics will be sold in the hygiene and medical market segments. Alpha Foam will target domestic and other markets for this new capacity addition.

Ranka stated, “Creating awareness on conversion and effectively utilizing Government of India schemes should be immediate priorities for the sector in India.”

In the recent past, Global Nonwovens had announced plans for setting up 5-beam spunmelt plant in Nashik and hopes to begin commercial production by first quarter of next year.
