Owing to the increase in the prices of caprolactam, which is a raw material for manufacture of nylon 6, the prices of nylon 6 chips are expected to rise in July.

In Asia, spot price of caprolactam had touched a record high of US$ 3,580-3,610/ton (CFR, China) in March 2011. After a few months of decline, the price again rose to US$ 3,240-3,260/ton last week.

This increase in the price of caprolactam has led some manufacturers to plan their offer price of nylon chips for July at US$ 3,600/ton (CFR, China) compared to the current price of US$ 3500-3550/ton in Asia market.

However, experts do not foresee prices rising further in the absence of a strong demand.
