Nylon filament yarn prices drop in Northeast Asian markets

The prices of nylon filament yarn declined in Northeast Asian markets during the last fortnight ending October 15, 2013, compared to the corresponding fortnight of last year.
 
In Northeast Asia, the average nylon filament yarn price during the fortnight ending October 15 was US$ 3.76/kg, down 4.94 percent compared to the average price of US$ 3.95/kg recorded during the first half of October 2012.
 
In USD-based Asian markets, prices for FDY 70 den/12 F stayed stable due to lack of support from the downstream market and prices were around US$ 3.73-3.75/kg FOB Northeast Asia in the first half of the last fortnight. In the second half of the last fortnight, NFY prices increased due to high production cost and prices for FDY 70 Den/12F were in the range of US$ 3.76-3.78/kg FOB Northeast Asia.
 
In the Chinese domestic market, average prices for FDY 70 den/24 F were in the range of RMB 23,700-24,000/ton, during the fortnight ending October 15. Mainstream prices for POY 86 den/24 F were around RMB 22,500-24,500/ton. During the fortnight, DTY 70 den/24 F semi-dull was traded in the price range of RMB 24,600-26,800/ton.
 
In the current fortnight, nylon filament yarn market is expected to remain steady and prices will remain stable due to moderate support from downstream buyers.
