China's PTA imports nosedive in March'13

In March 2013, China imported 194,800 tons of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) (Tariff No 29173611), down 288,700 tons compared to the quantity imported during the same month last year.

On a month-on-month basis, too, China’s PTA imports decreased by 18,200 tons during the month under review.

In March 2013, the average PTA import price was US$ 1,176/ton, a decline of 2.11 percent compared with the corresponding month last year, and down 1.62 percent from February’s average import price.

In addition, China imported 47,100 tons of PTA (Tariff No 29173619) in March 2013, a decrease of 55,300 tons over the same period last year, but an increase of 2,200 tons over February imports. The average import price was US$ 1,154/ton, down 0.43 percent year-on-year and 0.91 percent month-on-month.
