China's PTA imports continue to slide

China imported 206,300 tons of purified terephthalic acid (PTA Tariff No. 29173611) in April 2013, down 138,000 tons compared with the same period last year, according to statistics.
 
However, Chinese PTA imports in April were 11,500 tons more compared to March imports.
 
The average import price during the month was US$ 1,083/ton, down 7.1 percent compared to April 2012’s average price, and down 7.93 percent compared with March average price.
 
In addition, China also imported 61,300 tons of PTA (Tariff No. 29173619) in April 2013, down 28,500 tons year-on-year, but increase of 14,200 tons compared with March imports. The average import price was US$ 1,075/ton, down 6.32 percent year-on-year and 6.91 percent month-on-month.
