Nippon Shokubai operating MEG plant at lower capacity

Japan’s Nippon Shokubai is operating its Chidori-based monoethylene glycol (MEG) plant at lower capacity.

“The plant is operating at 90 percent of its capacity as the Ukishima plant, which supplies raw material to Chidori plant, is operating at lower rates,” a company official told fibre2fashion.

Further, the Ukishima plant is scheduled to temporarily shutdown for maintenance from mid-August this year for about a month.

However, the Chidori plant, which has a capacity of 165,000 mt/yr, has no maintenance schedule this year.
