A marginal rise was observed in prices of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) during the last fortnight ending July 31, 2013, due to firm feedstock price and tight regional availability.

In Asian markets, average PTA price increased by 1.60 percent during the last fortnight compared to the average price during the fortnight ending July 15, 2013.

In line with bullish buying trend in downstream market, the prices of PTA in the Far East Asian market increased and were offered in the range of US$ 1075/ton to US$ 1080/ton.

In the Southeast Asian market, PTA price was quoted at US$ 1080/ton, during the fortnight ending July 31.

In Europe, PTA prices remained steady during the fortnight and were assessed at US$ 905/ton on July 31.
