The prices of Acrylonitrile (ACN) moved up in both Far East and Southeast Asian markets during the week ending August 24, 2013.

In Far East Asia, Acrylonitrile prices were quoted at US$ 1775-1785/ton, while they were in the range of US$ 1800-1810/ton in Southeast Asia during the week ending August 24.

During the fortnight ending August 15, Acrylonitrile prices were stable in these markets due to firm feedstock prices and were assessed in the range of US$ 1750-1755/ton in Far East Asia and US$ 1790-1795/ton in Southeast Asia.

In the Chinese domestic market, average prices of ACN were assessed at RMB 12400/ton during the fortnight ending August 15, showing a rise of about 1 percent over prices of RMB 12250/ton during a fortnight earlier.

In Europe, ACN prices surged by 1 percent during the fortnight ending August 15, due to tight product availability and increase in feedstock price, and average prices were assessed at US$ 1780-1785/ton.

In the US, prices of ACN increased by a similar percentage as in Europe and average prices for the fortnight ending August 15 were assessed at US$ 1770/ton, as compared to US$ 1750/ton during the fortnight ending July 31, due to firm feedstock prices.
