The prices of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) declined in Asian markets due to dip in feedstock prices coupled with lower upstream energy prices.

In Far East and Southeast Asian countries, PTA prices dipped by 1 percent in week ending September 21 and average prices were assessed at US$ 1060/ton and 1065/ton, respectively, as compared to prices of US$ 1070-1080/ton prevailing in the fortnight ending September 15.

On September 23, however, PTA prices bounced back a little and were assessed at US$ 1065/ton and US$ 1070/ton in Far East and Southeast Asian markets, respectively.

In the Chinese market, PTA prices remained stable at US$ 1070/ton in the week ending September 21. In the US market, too, prices were steady at 62 cents/pound.
