The prices of paraxylene (PX) declined between 1 to 1.5 percent in all regions during the fortnight ending September 30, 2013, compared to the fortnight ending September 15.

In the US, average PX prices were spotted at US$ 1450/ton in the first fortnight ending September 15, which showed downward trend and declined by 1.51 percent to US$ 1425-1430/ton during the last fortnight due to weak upstream energy value and dull buying trend in the region.

In Europe, average prices in the first fortnight were at US$ 1400-1405/ton, which dipped by 0.91 percent in the last fortnight to US$ 1385-1390/ton, mainly due to plunged PX values in Asian and U.S.A markets, which supported the price decline.

In the Far East Asian countries, PX prices were around US$ 1480-1485/ton in the first fortnight, which dropped by 1.11 percent in the last fortnight to US$ 1465/ton. On October 3, PX prices were assessed at US$ 1445/ton.

In Southeast Asia, average PX prices were at US$ 1500-1505/ton during the fortnight ending September 15, which declined by around 1 percent to US$ 1485-1490/ton last fortnight due to bearish market fundamentals. On October 3, PX prices were assessed at US$ 1470/ton.
