Japan-based Dia-Nitrix Co. Ltd., which engages in an integrated chain of acrylonitrile (ACN) business operations, would be closing its two ACN plants next year for maintenance turnaround.

The company operates an 115,000 mt/year ACN pant in Mizushima and another 90,000 mt/year plant in Otake.

“The Mizushima plant is tentatively scheduled to be shut for maintenance turnaround in mid-February 2014, and it is likely to stay off-stream till the beginning of April,” a company official told fibre2fashion.

When asked about the Otake-based plant, the official said, it is likely to be shut for maintenance in the end of September 2014 and it would be restarted in November 2014.

Dia-Nitrix was established in July 2001 as a joint venture between Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Chemical Corp.

Acrylonitrile is mainly used in the manufacture of acrylic fibres for the textiles and clothing industry.
