China's ethylene output rises sharply in Sept'13

China’s ethylene production continued to maintain growth trend in September 2013, according to the latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics.

In September, China produced 1.27 million tons of ethylene, showing an increase of 13.7 percent year-on-year.

From January to September this year, China’s cumulative ethylene production stood at 11.79 million tons, registering an increase of 6.4 percent year-on-year, which is the highest growth rate observed since the beginning of this year.

The main reason for sharp rise in September ethylene production was that the Wuhan Petrochemical project with a production capacity of 800,000 tons of ethylene became operational.

There will be more incremental ethylene production in October and China’s ethylene production growth trend is likely to continue.
