ACN prices fall in European and US markets last fortnight

The prices of acrylonitrile (ACN) fell in European and the US markets in the last fortnight ending October 31, 2013, due to sluggish buying trends and bearish feedstock prices, while they were stable-to-up in Asia due to tight product availability coupled with firm support from the upstream market.
 
In Southeast Asia, ACN prices remained steady at US$ 1875/ton in October 2013, showing a decline of 0.66 percent year-on-year. On November 7, ACN price was assessed at US$ 1845/ton.
 
In Far East Asia, average ACN price increased by 0.27 percent to US$ 1875/ton in the last fortnight ending October 31 compared to average price of US$ 1870/ton in the previous fortnight. On November 7, ACN price was assessed at US$ 1860/ton.
 
In the US market, average ACN price fell by 2.56 percent to US$ 1710/ton last fortnight compared to the average price of US$ 1755/ton in the previous fortnight.
 
In Europe, average ACN price in the last fortnight was US$ 1800/ton, showing a slight decline of 0.28 percent from average price of US$ 1805/ton in the fortnight ending October 15.
