Al Waha Petrochemicals, established in September 2006 as a limited liability joint venture company between Sahara and LyondellBasell with a 75 percent and 25 percent shareholding, respectively, has shut its polypropylene (PP) plant for maintenance turnaround.

“The PP plant was shut down on December 24, 2013, for maintenance,” a company official told fibre2fashion.

“The maintenance would take around 15 to 20 days,” the official informed.

The PP plant located at Jubail in Saudi Arabia has a capacity to produce 450,000 mt/year of PP.

The Al Waha plant commenced commercial operations on April 1, 2011, and the PP produced is sold in both regional and international markets.
