ACN prices drop in global markets last fortnight

The prices of acrylonitrile (ACN) dropped in Asian markets in the last fortnight ending April 15, 2014, compared to the prices in the previous fortnight ending March 15, due to bearish downstream demand.
 
In Asia, ACN prices decreased in the last fortnight due to ample product availability coupled with bearish buying in the region. In F E Asia, the average price of ACN decreased by 1.97 percent to US$ 1995/ton in the last fortnight, vis-à-vis the average price of $2035/ton recorded in the previous fortnight. On April 23, prices were assessed at $1910/ton.
 
In S E Asia, the average price of ACN declined by 2.73 percent in the last fortnight to $1960/ton, as against the average price of $2015/ton in the previous fortnight. On April 23, prices were assessed at $1900/ton.
 
In European market, selling offers for ACN declined due to soft downstream demand. The average price in the last fortnight was $1800/ton, down 1.10 percent compared to the average price of $1820/ton in the previous fortnight.
 
In the US market, ACN average price in the last fortnight declined by 2.14 percent to $1830/ton, compared to the average price of $1870/ton in the previous fortnight, due to mute buying sentiments.
